MY ALBUM:
“Reflections in Melody” is a compilation of original material composed, produced and recorded by Calgary, Alberta, Canada Indie artist Marc Lamontagne. The compositions are Piano driven instrumentals mostly accompanied by an assortment of instruments and sounds that include Jazz style Electric Guitar, Latin influenced Acoustic Guitar, Accordion, Tenor Sax, Flute, ‘CX3’ Organ, Strings, Clarinet, Drums and Percussion. Musician friends, former and current musical associates in the Calgary area were called upon to contribute and record wonderful instrumental tracks to some of the songs.
This album is comprised of a variety of musical genre fitting overall in the ‘Easy Listening’, ’ Light Music’ & ‘Soundtrack’ category but at times definitely leaning towards a Jazz, Celtic or Latin genre of music depending on the track. In particular tracks on the album which would also be conducive to Radio Indie International Network genre are “Sueños (Dreams)” which is a collaboration with Iggy Hector Kessel, “Kool Cat Walkabout”, “Une Après-Midi à Carsac” and “The Canadian Western Samba”. It is my fervent wish that this album may appease to the listener’s unspoken need to selfishly embrace a quiet, relaxing and quite possibly a danceable moment.
Marc’s forte and affection in life is composing and producing music: “it provides me with a soothing sense of happiness, satisfaction and accomplishment”. Marc will frequently invite local musicians in his studio or via long distance and ‘track sharing’ to record and contribute instrumental tracks to his compositions On occasion he will collaborate with other Indie artists in writing and composing a particular piece of music.
“I like to think of my music as strongly melodic and rhythmic in character. It is the kind of music one might want to listen to while driving, relaxing at home, cooking or chilling in your garden-patio. I daresay you could probably dance to some of the tracks in the record. The piano is indeed my voice and instrument of expression for creating, playing-out melodies and chord structures. What will follow may be a combination of instrumental sounds making up the content of a piece of music such as Strings, Accordion, Drawbar Organ, Rhodes E. Piano, Sax, Clarinet, Flute and Acoustic & Electric Guitar.
“The Musical Genre here could best be described as Instrumental, Easy Listening, Latin (in a loosely defined term), Soundtrack, Celtic, Jazz, Cinematic Soundscape, Relaxing and Ambient. The moods that I attempt to conjure would be Romantic, Sad, Calm, Peaceful, Dreamy/Reflective, Mysterious/Eerie, Laid/Back, Emotional, Happy and Inspirational”.
